Question, if I have an RRSP on my own and my company does offer the RRSP matching contribution, can I choose both? What happens to the money when you leave the company? If you can take advantage of the company offer plus contribute to the one on your own, if you leave the company does your RRSP contribution transfer over to your side one? I know it will be linked on your CRA account. Would having both be ok as long as you stay in your annual contribution allowance? Does this make sense? Help, I have decisions to make

Bassically you will have some sort of issues or problems when you ared doing anything in this Country. Even small things such as go to your bank or see a doctor.

People are also very cold in Canada especially in Vancouver. You are pretty much on your own for everything. People seem nice and reasonable, but they don't really care about others except themselves.

People in Canada are the problem, not the government. Canada people are very lazy and passive aggressive. They suck at their jobs and always charge more because they are lazy. If you are not happy with the poor services they gave you, they will blame you for being rude and refuse to provide the service which you have paid for. So you either accept their poor service or not receive any service at all. It's not the problem of the government, it's the culture of this country.

We moved from ON to SK in 2018, paid our house off in 5 years, we both make more $$, have more free time, we actually spend time with neighbors and fish, hike, sightsee, lots of amazing people, we love the winters, no slush, amazing blue skies and awesome fishing. We couldnt imaging doing any if this in ON as we would be working 7 days a week, now we work 4 and watch our savings grow. So many jobs here....

Dear immigrants Canada has its problems it's a fact. But you mostly are obsessed by Toronto and Vancouver. You buy a doghouse in these cities for 1,5 millions. Avoid ghettos of these cities. Go elsewhere.

Been with them since 2007, love it. Started with a Savings acc., now have TFSA, RRSP and GIC mirror accounts for all 3. Had a mortgage up till 2016, paid off now. You can link accounts from other banks for transfers easily. Overall have always liked using Tangerine, they often have some really good promotions as well, like currently getting 5% interest on Savings account deposits till Oct.

The savings rate for Canadians is abysmal during good times.

Thanks for the video. There are ton of videos circulating regarding HISA and the interest we would receive is much higher than traditional banks. I think it’s important to know a few things before opening such accounts. Yes it’s a good to earn 4% interest but keep in mind it’s interest income and subject to marginal tax at the end of the year. If someone really have excess cash, perhaps a better place to earn a tax efficient income by investing in blue chip Canadian companies that pay eligible dividends. But of cause if someone need cash for emergency, HISA would be a better option but the high interest is not a sure thing unless it’s in cashable GIC. And another thing to consider is what BOC would do with interest rates over the next 1-3 years. If BOC lowers interest rates significantly, I don’t believe 4% interest in HISA is realistic.

the only cheapest places are in the middle of no where with no sustainable economy hence why population is low . there are cheap places in every country on this planet , the question is whether you ll be able to make a living in those places .not everyone has an internet fulltime job .

The most important cost saving skills are DIY skills. Learn to cook. Learn to fix and maintain simple and moderately difficult stuff. As you get more skilled, the more complex DIY seems achievable. Second, invest in assets. Assets like property, stocks, and tools for your DIYs. Only spend money on things that will pay back eventually. Don't spend money on new cars. They depreciate more then 20% within the first year. Buy a 5 year old used car that is more than 50% depreciated. Maintain your own car and all those depreciation dollars you saved can be cost out for potential major repairs. I change my own car brakes, calipers and rotors. I spent about $150 on brake and caliper tool set, about $250 on a rotor puller tool. A $400 investment which I can I use for years and years. I have two vehicles. Just one brake, caliper and rotor change for both vehicles, the tools more than paid for themselves. Your employment income is not the source of your wealth. How many people equate their financial status with their jobs? Too many and most live paycheck to paycheck. Employment incomes are to pay your bills that's all. If you can reduce your bills by DIYs and spending less, the money you have leftover can be used to invest in property, stocks, GICs and DIY tools.

I save 20 to 50 % of my savings each pay. This is after tithing 10% I have zero drbt, and my wife and i have an annual HH income of 170k per year. I can definitely say i do not go out for dinner nearly as much. Once or twice a week 5 years ago to 3 times a month. With Trudy knee-capping business, taxing us to death, and focusing on LGBT and climate change garbage vs. allowing businesses to flourish, I'v started to move money out of Canada. saving for a downpayment was never the hard part or the issue to own a home in canada , the real problem is the non existence of a long term fixed rate mortgage , the longest u can get in canada is 5 years if you are very lucky , without a fixed rate you re exposed to have your mortgage payment skyrocket everytime the bank of canada decides to raise interest rates to combat inflation , smth like what we re going through now .living in uncertainty is a nightmare and becomes the norme in canada . in morocco people have access to longlife fixed rate mortgages , they re higher a lil bit obviously but at least you know that what you ll be paying for every month . in the US they offer fixed rate mortgages for up to 30 years which is almost longlife .Canada is an open air slave camp run by a mob , canadians are just a bunch of numbers to the rulling class and their life mean nothing .

Yes,I certainly agree that everyone should learn how to invest. But I think a lot of people do not understand the difference between investing and speculation and commingle these 2 terms thinking they are the same. Reading books like The Intelligent Investor ( a book that every investor should definitely read in spite of it been written 8 decades back but still very relevant today) will go a long way.
